mail problem

I only recently commented how flawlessly Mail (with Gmail and IMAP settings) worked on my computer, but so much for that. Last night I was trying to send an email to a friend with a very large attachment, when Mail just seemed overwhelmed, and coincidentally my internet chose that moment to crap out. So I reset the router, tried to edit the message to decrease the attachment size, and then tried to send it again. Unfortunately it still didn't work. I logged onto the same gmail account  through safari, force quit mail (because mail wouldn't quit normally and didn't appear to be working properly), and sent my message successfully that way.

Now this account in Mail does not work at all, and I get this message every time I try to take the account online:

"Some actions taken while the account “laurenmurch” was offline could not be completed online. Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox “On My Mac” in “On My Mac” so that you can complete the actions while online.
Additional information: The IMAP command “APPEND” (to Drafts) failed with server error: Could not parse command."

The additional information part of the message is not always the same. It has also said "Additional information: Operation could not be completed. (MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028.)" among other things.
I already went in and tried to remove the message that started the problem and it seems to be gone. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

(Update: I REMOVED the account and added it again, and the problem persists.)
(Update: After trying several other things, I deleted the account a second time and restarted mail, and seem to have solved the problem)
